OWNERSHIP MENTALITY instead of a ITS 5 O’CLOCK MENTALITY

Quick lil’ story…

So I provided a work opportunity to get development work done. The individual was consistently late and had an excuse as to why, that in his mind justified the tardiness. The same individual complained about needing more work and why opportunity was not abundant as it once used to be. After all, he is super talented and deserving of work, right?

Here is the core issue, as I see this problem more frequent: “The 5 O’Clock Mentality“.

Instead of doing a job until the job is done correct, they are steady watching the clock wondering when its time to go. Instead of working as if they own it, they are doing just enough to say they worked and wonder why they continue to get passed over. Being a victim of circumstance is easy; giving countless excuses is easy; half ass work is also easy to do; But what about doing it right? What about committing to excellence? What about putting pride in your work in all that you do? What about having the mentality of whatever it takes?

Succeeding in anything is not hard, it just requires you to do what most people are not willing to do. Most people will not commit and will rationalize why there excuses are justified. Until you own yourself and realize you’re in control, growth will not happen.

“Succeeding in anything is not hard, it just requires you to do what most people are not willing to do.”
~ Jason Bell

The moment I realized having a Ownership Mentality instead of a Its 5 O’Clock Mentality….my entire life changed. I stopped punching a clock and my income soared. I can’t tell you how many nights I’ve been up to 3 AM working on something that could have easily waited until the next day, but I would not allow it because of the promises I made to self and others.

The 5 O’Clock Mentality will get you nowhere; it will keep you stagnant and keep you broke. Learn to be the sole owner of your life and all your actions, and keep the promises you make to self. Kick your ass on a daily basis. Growth will be inevitable.
